USA On Time

The USA Pavilion will finish construction and outfitting before Expo’s start on May 1, according to Jose Villarreal, commissioner general of the USA Pavilion.

The US signed its participation almost at the last minute and was among the last to start its pavilion.

’’I am proud to announce that we have achieved both goals – finish on time and raise enough funds,’’ Villarreal told media from around the world at the almost finished 5,600-square-meter pavilion.  According to Villarreal, The USA Pavilion has 56 sponsors so far and many more have expressed interest in donating.  Every additional dollar will allow the pavilion to improve programming, entertainment and to bring more celebrities to the pavilion, he said.

At the USA Pavilion, visitors will be able to experience an eight-minute 4D movie named ’’The Garden.’’  The movie will use effects as wind and rain.  Visitors will also be able to hear great musicians, such as jazz legend Herbie Hancock, jazz singer Dee Dee Bridgewater and hybrid rockers Ozomatli.

Wuxi

All well and good, but where are the American people? All we hear about are American corporations behind the Expo. It appears rather like a tradeshow, all about selling things, not a cultural exchange.
