The Year of the Tiger

It’s Chinese New Year celebration time! Feb 13th from 2-6 pm at Lasipalatsi square, Mannerheimintie 22-24, Helsinki.

The Chinese New Year festivities, hosted by the cities of Helsinki and Beijing, will be celebrated in Helsinki for the fourth time. The event features a number of performances, including ferocious battle scenes of the Beijing Opera, colourful lion and dragon dances and plenty of activities for children. You can also watch the New Year’s Celebrations from Beijing in a live broadcast. The Chinese market and the immensely popular food market bring along colour, flavour and life to the hibernating Lasipalatsi Square. The festival is crowned by a massive fireworks show above Töölönlahti Bay.

About the writer

Looking forward to the year of the Tiger, Ossi is coordinating the Greater Helsinki participation for the Shanghai World Expo 2010. Loving the chance to meet people of great talent from both countries he adds: "It's a once in a lifetime opportunity to be part of such an inspiring project". Feeling already home at one of the largest metropolitan areas in the world, Ossi is waiting for all the amazing presentations the World Expo event has to offer. If time allows, the sport climbing enthusiast is most likely found at a local indoor wall learning the ropes.
