The San Marino Pavilion
The world’s smallest and oldest republic, The Republic of San Marino is attending Expo with the theme ’’City-State: the smallest and oldest republic in the world.’’ The pavilion will display a full-size reproduction of its Statue of Liberty. The statue embodying San Marino’s values will be exhibited at the center of the exhibition area inside a joint pavilion for European countries. The country, with a territory of 61.19 square kilometers inside the heart of Italy, will also spotlight episodes of its history, its unique institutional sysyem with two head of state and government as well as its culture, tourism and economy.
The exhibit will be presented in four areas. The first area goes back over the 1,7000 years of the Repubic’s history, from its foundation to entering UNESCO, passing through the most important episodes. The second area will focus on the country’s tourism by displaying video and a series of pictures. The third room, named ’’The Institutions room, will take visitors to discover the intitutional system capable of conserving democracy throughout the centuries. The fourth and last exhibition room will highlight the merits of the Country-System, from production to banking.
San Marino will present a show and parade from Junr 4 to 5 to celebrate the pavilion’s national day on June 4.
