The Hungary Pavilion
The 1,000-square meter Hungary Pavilion goes by the theme ‘’Harmony, Creativity and Hospitality.’’ Hungary approaches the theme ‘’Better City, Better Life’’ in a philosophical way. The pavilion will entertain visitors by making them think rather than arranging big shows and hectic programs. The architecture of the pavilion is made mostly out of wooden bars, with the famous Gömböc invention in the centre. The wooden installation will be like a musical instrument, creating an astonishing sound space. The hanging rods inside the pavilion create a forestlike environment, illuminated by natural sunlight at daytime and at night turning into a starlit sky, through the lights built in the sound boxes.
The Gömböc is one of the most important recent Hungarian scientific inventions. The new geometric shape, created by Professor Gábor Domokos and Dr. Péter Várkonyi, is the first known homogenous object with just one stable ans one unstable equilibrium point. Designers of the Hungarian Pavilion compare Gömböc’s features to Hungary, ‘’Hungary always recovers.’’ The Gömböc has a close philosophical relation with Yin Yang, both symbolizing the pursuit for dual balance and harmony.
A special gala will be presented on August 22, The Hungary National Day. At the gala there will be Hungarian music and masterpieces of the country’s greatest composers. The performances will also include today’s worldwide famous solo artists, orchestras and dance groups.
